Solving the puzzles of life
Part of my collection of cubes 😎
When I first picked up a Rubik’s Cube, it stared back at me—a colorful enigma wrapped in a 3x3 frame. It took hours just to learn the basic moves and days of turning, twisting, and occasionally tossing it gently onto the couch in frustration, to finally solve it without peering at my cheat sheet.
As my curiosity grew, so did the size of the puzzles. Moving from a 3x3 to a 4x4 cube was like upgrading from a cozy novel to War and Peace—more layers, more complexity, and a lot more head-scratching. Mastering it was no small accomplishment. It demanded days of study and practice, but when I finally did, a funny thing happened: suddenly, any cube I picked up started to make sense. These days, I can solve a 7x7 cube in a leisurely 12-15 minutes, savoring the challenge rather than just speeding through.
Here’s where I am going. Most people see a Rubik’s Cube and feel a mix of awe and a bit of dread. "It's too complicated," they think. And isn't it just like life’s challenges? We look at them, sometimes bewildered, wondering, "Where do I even begin?"
But here’s a little secret I’ve learned both from life and from those multicolored cubes: start with one side. Just like solving one side of a cube lays the foundation for the rest, tackling one piece of a larger problem can illuminate the path forward. With patience, practice, and a bit of playful curiosity, what once seemed unbelievably complex becomes a series of steps, each one building on the last.
Whether it’s changing careers, improving health, or navigating relationships, remember—every twist brings you closer to the solution. Just like with the Rubik’s Cube, once you understand and master the fundamentals, everything starts to click.
So, the next time you face a daunting task, think of it as a puzzle waiting to be solved. Who knows? What you learn in the process might just be the key to unlocking another mystery down the road.
Happy solving!
